    A program called secure delete claims that the DOD uses it it can do up to 100 passes it overwrites all deleted items. it say's the DOD just does 9 passes. I put mine on 35 LOL it took days. just to run 9 passes took about 2 day's I think. claims it can't be recovered by any means including magnetic.
