    Everybody send Arie a buck!

All kidding aside Arie, the wave of the future will not be ads anymore, but affiliate programs. You would need a software product here at WinBBS to take advantage of it.

Or, I'll bet that people here are more than willing to pay a subscription fee in exchange for a specialized avatar. Trouble with subscription fees though is that it chases away too many people.

There will soon be a subscription as an option here.... One thing it'll give you is no ads.... I'm still working out the details & extra's for the subscribers.....

Oh, and about software..... the =Sponsored Links= ad at the bottom of the pages "peddles" our software.

On the 'normal' Web site, this section 'pulls' a click-through rate of around 0.75%.... Here on the BB only 0.095% ......

The subscription idea for paid access to non ads is an old idea.
Granted there are people whowill pay for the subscription, but there are many people who won't. In addition, they will run programs simnilar to popup killer to kill whatever pop ad comes along.
Still remains the samwe though, you can't kill a banner. You can bar the linked banner from being dispayed, but you can't kill it the same as a popup.

It still comes down to individual choice.... Many will, many won't.
