I assume, you replaced "*" in here: c:\avg_free_stf_*.exe with whatever symbols you had in your installation file?

One more thing. When you install AVG that way, LinkScanner is not even listed in main AVG window. Did you check there?

I didn't. I used that command to reinstall AVG over the top.

Reinstalling, on top or not, is starting from scratch. Of course, this case is even more complicated than a straight reinstall. But, why all this fuss for a beta?

There is no fuss. I don't like useless/dead entries, and afterall, it's not FF fault.

I know how you feel, but it is still a beta. However, seeing the tendencies for security with Firefox3.0, and 4.0, anyone who is used to add-ons will get a rude awakening. Firefox4.0a1 is very straightforward. It tells you, when you look for add-ons or their updates that they are already installed or not compatible.
I don't have a single add-on in 4.0. Even the Nightly Testers Tools is not compatible, so I will have to be with no add-ons, until someone will care to come out with something which works.
