Resolved How often does an automatic restore point get created? My PC isn't doing it

    How often does Windows 10 create an automatic restore point besides when you install software?

    Did you Google your question;)

    They get created every few days AND or anytime you install a medium good piece of software.

    Yes and I got different answers. Mine doesn't seem to be created except when install and uninstall.

    Yes thanks the system restore is turned on and configured. It hasn't created any restore points for 7 days and only one that was not manually done since Dec 3rd. Perhaps this is normal behavior.

    Hi Alicia.
    Yes this is normal behavior but you can change the interval for when Windows creates automatic restore points, Change How Often System Restore Creates Restore Points in Windows 7 or Vista.

    The scheduler says it successfully completed on Dec 15th and yet when I try to look at the available restore points, it's not listed. I'm probably missing something here.

    Well IMO you could always create a restore point manually if needed. I would change the interval period to something more frequent and then see if Windows creates the restore point automatically during that period. Plus, I think the computer needs to be idle during this time. If you are using the machine to do something then Windows may not create a automatic restore point during the period that you are using the machine.

    And of course the restore points only backup system files.... If there hasn't been any updates to those, the system doesn't have much of a need to create the restore point.

    I had the same problem. I hacked the registry to create two restore points a day(24hrs.). I don't know weather or not you would want to go through the trouble of creating a reg. key.
