Hi mommierox, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Could you give us a little more background information about your issue? Does the CD/DVD Drive show up in My Computer as a drive?

Before mucking around in the registry deleting entries I would take a look at this link first and see if it helps solve your problem, Your CD or DVD drive can't read or write media.

If that fix doesn't work then follow these steps to get your CD drive working again.

Click Start< All Programs< Accessories< Notepad. Once Notepad is opened, copy and paste the following code into Notepad:

In Notepad click File< Save As. When you save the file in Notepad you should see three input boxes. You need to save the file with the following attributes otherwise it won't work.

    1. Filename: fixcd.reg
    2. Save as type: All Files
    3. Encoding: ANSI

After the file is saved then navigate to the directory where you saved the file and then double click on the fixcd.reg file. Click Yes when asked to merge the file in the registry. Reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.
