    To mjg1973 and ssmith10pn:

My sincere apologies to all of you if my messages were offensive to any of you. It is a humbling experience to be incorrect as I was about the wiring scheme info/advice that I gave in another thread. After reading the link provided by you guys I now understand why what I said was incorrect and can better understand why the half duplex worked in certain instances (the wiring was incorrect).

However, the advice to Loreen was useful at least as a short term fix.

My comment about Tekguys advice was inconsiderate and I apologize to him also. I would advise him and everyone in general to ask more questions before suggesting a solution.

    Thanks for your helpful posts,

    Dan

    drdancm,
No problem. Let's all keep an open mind and admit that there just may be someone out there that knows a bit more than we do and that just might be able to help us! Also, if we keep this **** up, we're ALL gonna get booted!!! :)

    Tekguy,
Actually, hubs were the first to introduce the uplink port thing quite some time ago to allow you to interconnect hubs without having to learn how to make a crossover cable, which is just swapping the orange and green pairs on one end...in T568B. As a matter of fact, I have a $20 8-port 10Mb/s hub sitting beside my desk with an uplink port to a 10/100Mb/s switch!! :D

    here-here, ossa

When I read.... "...all good information, just doesn't meet my needs." .....I grinned from ear-to-ear! Sure rang true to me, I'll tell you what. Story of my life out here fishing for knowledge. The Web is great, just seems a little too big to me sometimes.. Sorry, no help with your multiple machine networking headache. I must say attacking the Internet with duality seems to me to be heading in the right direction. Any thoughts on Direct cable connection technology? CAVEMAN yes, but should still make it possible to share a dial-up with my resident crazed gammer, right?
    don't get me started.....................sm:D
