    Dennis,

Interesting, and things that make you go hmm. I can play wav files on other sites, and thus my statement.

I THINK what we may be dealing with here may well be CODING on the site itself.

They may well be coded for IE and NS will just not decode it.

I have several other links to the same general site and NS comes with " Page can't be Displayed." But they work fine with IE.

And while messing around here I have seen the little Icon in the lower left corner switch back and forth between NS & IE.

Now I do have to say this.

If this is the problem that some NS testers are having and are blaming NS they may be wrong.

This may be something for NS builders to think about and work on.

And last but not least. My own Website works fine in NS.

    Eck

I am getting some surprises too.

Well folks, I am being challenged to a game of Cribbage. And I can not ( or should not ) refuse that LOL.

    From the Guy having fun.

In cases like this, I go to the the HTML validation site , and I get a mess. Over 200 errors. The original website is not much better.
So, it appears that the site was built very likely with a Microsoft program, may be like Front Page which gets along with IE, and that's it.
I was going to check the site to be read as IE, in NS8.01,. but apparently, there is a waiting period to get in. I waited twice, but that's it.

So. Unless I read wrong that turns myTHINKING into reality.

And it may well NOT BE an NS fault at all.

It is not the program's fault, but rather of the person who released such pages without realizing that IE does not have to abide by code, while NS and all the other programs must. Just think about Front Page, which is a very common HTML creating program and IE, speaking to each other in a dialect, which is not understood, completely, by other programs. This one reason why NS8 has the ability to switch engine, although I don't like to do it.
I used to be a member of AOL, which several years ago developed a program based on NS6.x. I was in the beta testing, and many websites did not work well, especially banks. But they corrected the problems. But, p[eople in the beta testing disliked the fact that the AOL Gecko could not play music with the inspirational messages. This fact was never corrected, although I, personally, would turn off the speakers, and just read the messages. So, non-IE browsers suit me fine, but it is my preference.

Okay, now the site is back up and it works with the music for me. I believe Netscape is using Internet Explorer mode, but just leaving the icon telling me so blank.

    Firefox won't play that, eh?

This Netscape hybrid is pretty cool.

I will say that it has caused an invalid page fault (so "it will be shut down ") twice. Once after it finished downloading a small file and once when trying to load a page. I don't remember Firefox EVER crashing on me. I do remember Internet Explorer crashing every so often when I used it.

Can't have cake and eat too I guess.

OK folks please do not take this as Gospel just yet. But I MAY HAVE found and fixed the audio problem in NS 8.

It may be just a train going the wrong way on the one way track.
It may be a case of working now but not tomorrow. ( IE would do that too. )
    It may just be a lucky happening but;

It kept telling me that I needed Quicktime 6. So I just says " What the heck lets try it. "

It also told me I would need to MANUALLY install it. SO at this time what the heck do I have to lose. So I downloaded QT 6. Installed it and WOW ! do I have some nice music as I write.

It also appears that QT must load a bootup.

I even had three ( 3 ) pages from the site all playing AT ONCE. YUCK

Right now I have Happy Trails TO You playing in the Background. Stutters a bit as I am typing but it is at least WORKING.

Could I have This Dance SOUNDS GREAT

Will somebody please take a peek Here

I hate to be a pest but I do need some help in making sure things work as they should. That includes adding links to these notes etc.

First off. I am NO LONGER BORED. I have something ( completely ) new to work with. And I just have to SHARE what I have done.

This part of MY Personal Web site

" Sentimental Journey " is playing in the background as I write.

The man in the pictures named Dad taught me well I guess.

He always said " just because it does not work the first time does not mean it will not work " and added TRY AGAIN And do not be afraid to experiment a little.

Well I did and it now seems work.

And one thing that we have discussed here and I have pretty much verified. And that seems to be that the sites with problems were not built with Netsacpe in mind.

Now I need to go make sure things are ready so my Son-in-Law can help me fix some kitchen sink Faucets tomorrow. If I don't and Nancy gets upset I may be reparing or replacing parts of my body.

    One thing that I forgot.

As of this moment everything I have done seems to be running in Firefox.
