That's good to know. I thought one could do that, but I wasn't sure.

I have Home Premium, so I doubt I could have virtual XP unless there is special software that I could install.

Thanks for all these interesting and helpful comments, but I just realized something. All the programs that I am using with the exception of email DO NOT requires internet access. When Microsoft stops sending security updates for Windows XP then future online access with XP will possibly be at risk to hackers. So what I am going to do is when I get my Windows 7 I will add the XP Mode and I will only install the programs that I use online.

After April 2014 I will just remove my XP from the internet and continue using my Office 2000 programs on the XP and if I have to upload any files to my server I will just transfer them to the Windows 7, using the removable hard drive that I have now, and upload them thru it.

Just because Microsoft stops updating Windows XP, doesn't mean the computer will stop working.

What do you think about that?

Oracle's VirtualBox will allow you to do that.

I think you are worrying to much and making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I couldn't agree more. There are many Luddites out there still happily using earlier versions of Windows, including Win9x. M$ may have stopped supporting those versions but, with proper precautions, they are still viable OSs.

There are lots of programs that will run properly even though MS and others program manufactures say that they won't. Load them and try them. They will either work or they won't. Sometimes they won't load at all or will tell you part way into the install.

Sometimes, old software can be installed by disabling the antivirus program, and then re-enabling it.
