    Scandisk

Do you have any anti-virus program running in the background? If so, disable it for the duration of the Scandisk process. Even wallpaper or a screen saver will interfere with Scandisk in Me.

Frankly, I got tired of closing down this that and the other program whenever I wanted to run Scandisk, and stuck altogether with Norton Utilities.

Now I have XP, and Scandisk may work more easily, but I still use Norton.

...hey...gw1500se...never had the email notification checked so was in here for a prob of my own today & checked my posts in profile...so here i am...lol...now the schedule..yes it can't set up a time & days schedule like...erm...NIS 2003...i just looked at it...all it does is set it for daily, weekly...never...everytime you boot up it defrags...i found this annoying...so wot i do is run a defrag before i shutdown my two comps for the night...if thats is not possible i do a weekly...privacy & cleanup...error checkin...then defrag...then I'll run me registry editor...finally reg compactor...i like to keep my HDD's tight as possible...but use the loose ntfs...supposed to be better for less defraggin on xp pro...

...anyway glad to here the suggestion helped you somewhat... them goldenbow guys maybe will include that schedule change on a revision of vopt...maybe you should suggest it to their tech support as a feature... ;) ...since you are more advanced in proggies...check my query in apps...if you have time...i got a little headscratcher there...i been workin on for about a month with the infini tech support.... :) ...l8r...HC... :D

    To gw1500se
I had very similar problem with Windows Second Edition, but all was solved by downloading a program called Enditall and a further download called Power defrag on the E-Technik website.
Enditall closes all open progs except the System and Explorer files, and Powerfrag defrags quickly and efficiently.
I don't know if they work with ME or other O/Ss, but they worked fine for SE.
