    Kaz2604,

Download The Killbox from here: http://tools.zerosrealm.com/killbox.zip

Unzip the files to a folder, then open and double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following:

    C:\DOCUME~1\HIGHRI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\niamten.dat

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot ". On the next screen, click on the File menu and choose "Add File ". The filename and path should show up in the window. If that's successful, choose the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot ". DO NOT allow reboot when prompted. Instaed, repeat the above steps for the following and reboot when done.

    C:\WINDOWS\java\Packages\netmain.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\prutlct.exe

When you're back in windows, please run Ad-aware again in full scan mode. Fix anything it finds. Post a new hijackthis log.

    Kaz2604 Ceres

I just removed this program from my computer and think it is totally gone. This is what I did:

1- I did a search and found the file on my computer
2- I clicked on properties to see who made the program (abetterinternet.com)
3- I went to their site hxxp://www.abetterinternet.com/ceres/ and read the instructions on how to remove it
4- They redirected me to www.MyPCTuneup.com
5- I ran that program and rebooted and Ceres is gone (I hope-- It hasn't popped-up and is not coming up on a search so let's cross our fingers!)

    Try it!

Edited to make that link unclickable, its not safe to even visit that website (Lonny)

    Why? (Amy)

Download and install RegSeeker. Reboot to safe mode and use the search registry feature of RegSeeker to search for niamten and netmain. Make note of all locations found and post results.

Were you ever able to see the netmain.exe file in C:\WINDOWS\java\Packages?

Loncaraf Ceres isnt the problem. It was gone long ago. Im still getting zipzappromo's. And considering this is the work computer I am trying to fix I really can't spend anymore of the work hours attempting to fix the problem. Im just going around in circles.

    Anyone removed ZipZapPromo's

    We removed ceres.

Have tried just endless things to remove what I assume is related to zipzappromos.

Still getting their popup ads like crazy. as well as some winantivirus.

If anyone has successfully stopped these let me know. Im done trying things that 'may' work. I want something that does. I cant waste anymore time on it.

    Same zipzappromo pop-up ad problem!

I have the same problem with these zipzappromo pop-up ads on the work computer. I have McAfee easypcprotection and have one of their support technicians trying to help me. I hope some one solves this soon. :(

Welcome to WindowsBBS Creswick Garage :)

Kaz2604 has a couple of unknown files present on that comp that I believe are the source of his/her particular problem (netmain.exe and niamten.dat), and are definately being stubborn. Had my last set of instructions been followed through with, we may have already been able to figure out where/how they are hooked into the system and finished the cleanup. If you would like to post a HJT log (in a new thread of your own), and work with us on it, we may be able to help you also.
