    Jeena,

It appears that users did install 2.0 over 1.5.0.7 with no apparent problem. Personally, I prefer a clean install, and uninstalled 1.5.0.7 before installing 2.0.

If you decide to follow my lead, then also delete the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder, after first making a copy of your plugins folder. Reboot your PC before installing 2.0.

    Hi Ramona:

I've read that v2.0 is just the last RC renamed, so I'm curious about the flaws you've discovered. (Granted, I'm new to this browser & haven't exactly 'torture tested' it yet, but the only glitch I've come across so far is that it sometimes takes a few tries to initiate a name change in Bookmarks - pretty minor.) Just wondering what to look out for.

    Thanks

    -User-,

I was thinking of the problems that some users have with memory leaks. Also the Profile not found bug. I was hoping those two would be addressed before 2.0 came out. However, Mozilla will still say that the memory leak is not a bad thing, and has a FQA here: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/memusage.html

Neither of these problems affect my system, I'm pleased to say! :)

Please help refresh my memory. I am running Firefox 1.0 which I installed from a zip file long ago. Its .exe is located in C\ProgramFiles\Firefox. I want to use the zipped version of 2.0 and have forgotten how to do it. First I was going to change the name of the old firefox folder to "OldFirefox ". Then when I open the zipped file for v2. where do I send it? Do I put it in a folder I create ,C\ProgramFiles\Firefox, or can I put it anywhere and then when I click on Firefox.exe it creates its own Firefox folder under ProgramFiles? When you get old the memory goes fast :)

Ackerberg, I have been using the zipped builds since before the FF 1.0 days, and I have always done your first option--renamed the current folder OLDMozilla Firefox (for safety's sake, although I've never had to return to the OLD folder), and then manually moved in the zipped file (after extracting it to the desktop, and then renaming it--for some reason, the zipped files I get are named firefox, and the one in program files is Mozilla Firefox, so I rename them before I move them into my C/Program Files folder).

You can put an .exe anywhere you want to; but don't think that doing so will automatically insert it in the c/program files--that is done during installation of the .exe (which we obviously are bypassing) or it has to be done manually.

EDIT--looking back, I supposed when extracting it, I could also rename it and place it directly into the Program Files folder while I'm extracting it, but old habits die hard.

I notice that when I scroll with the mouse I sometimes get double images. Is there some way to fix this behavior?
This is a Firefox scroll problem because the scroller works OK in IE6. When I scroll down this page:
    http://www.massphil.org/
    Click on Soloists
As you scroll toward the bottom of the page, do you get double images?

If you had another FF version, 2.0 would pick up the old profile. I don't like that, so, I purposely, create a separate profile.
As for the double image, I, certainly, do not see it, nor at any website.
At yours, I heard the intro to Beethoven's Fifth, and nothing else special.

Hey, what's wrong with seeing twice as many of those faces?

Seriously, I don't think its a FF problem either, because I scrolled down the Soloists page smoothly and saw only 1 picture of each soloist.

Thank you. It may be the mouse. Under the scrolling preferences in FF, which boxes do you have checked for the mouse motions?

The only one I have is Use Autoscrolling. I don't have smoothscrolling checked.

    Bob ...

I have both autoscrolling and smooth scrolling checked, and your Soloists page displays as it should, with single images.
