After formating and installing a fresh copy of XP Pro on my PC. I am getting this error when I use the File and Settings Transfer Wizzard , "Files and settings transfer wizard problems not enough space "
Does anyone know how to fix this error so I can retrive my files and settings?

Is there enough space on the drive where you are trying to copy the files ?

Yes. The drive has over 400 gb left on it. The Files being transfer are only 29 gb.

I'm still at a lost with this. The new Computer recognizes the files. The files And Settings Transfer Wizard runs about one third through it's process and stops. With data cannot be saved or there is not enough space errors. Is there another program I can use to open these files? Any help would be appreciated.

Why don't you just open the 2 folders in Explorer & copy from the old hard drive to the new ?

The Folder in Question is labeled USMT2.UNC . It was created by the File and Settings Transfer Wizard when I first transfered my files from my old PC to an external HD. That old PC is now my new PC with a fresh version of xp pro. When I use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard to retrive these files is where the problem is. Does anyone know of a program that can open the USMT2.UNC folder besides File and Settings Transfer Wizard?

Have you tried copying the folder to your new hard drive?

For starters, run this command from a command prompt (Start > Run): cmd /c systeminfo | findstr /B /C: "OS Name" /C: "OS Version ">%temp%\$.$&notepad %temp%\$.$

Copy/Paste the info from the Notepad window in your next reply.

I have been trying to use the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard prior to re-installing XP, but although I specify a CD drive as the storage location (E: or F: in my case) when the wizard gets to the point of writing data it has not recognised the drive and insists that I insert a blank floppy as it thinks there is no disc in the drive.

    Any thoughts?

A further question - will the transfer include ALL my internet settings, or do I have to set up a totally new internet connection?

    Tony,

Please start a new thread with your question rather then adding to an unrelated thread from another poster (yea, it is about the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard, but unrelated).
