    windstrings,

    Great - couple of points.

    1.
    - I have no idea where "Java Plug-in" came from......nor for that matter ANY of the comments that are shown as BOLD - did you add them ?

Itlooks like you do NOT have any plugins in your FF 3.0.1 Portable files.
ALL the plugins indicate that they are being loaded from the SYSTEM locations.

I think you will have to ADD them MANUALLY to your FF 3.0.1 Portable files.
Someone may know of another way - I think you will have to have at a minimum the following:

    flashplayer.xpt
    np32dsw.dll
    npnul32.dll
    NPSWF32.dll
    NPTURNMED.dll
    plugins_readme.txt
    ShockwavePlugin.class

    flashplayer.xpt
    ShockwavePlugin.class

May not be required - I am not sure...they do not seem to be hurting anything.

Opeinions seem to differ as to WHERE they need to be, SO this is just MY opinion.
There are 3 plugins folders in FF Portable:
    I put them in:

    drive:\your folder name \FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins\
    CLOSE FF Portable..........
You will have to SEARCH for the plugins on YOUR system - BY NAME -

When you locate one of the *.dll files, copy it to the folder I indicate:

    drive:\your folder name \FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins\

After you do this ( with FF portable closed)
Start FF portable and see if they are there and if they work.

    Please post back

    regards:captjlddavis

Well I copied all those files from my system to the FF3 plugins directory and none of them load from that directory.... they still load from my system.... even after I reinstalled shockwave and adobe flash.... I did not uninstall them first this time.. but I have uninstalled the adobe flash and reinstalled it before and thats how I got it working on my home system.

How I can get it to load on the portable version as standalone, I don't know.
for some reason FF3 wants to load from the system and if the system doesn't have it, it just won't load at all?

So yours is loading from FF3 plugins diretory?......

Maybe I'll try to go load the plugins through another way.

Here is a copy of my configuration when running from home:

Yes - it does get somewhat confusing....
    From MY post:

Make sure you copied to the right place.........

Your pathes may differ a little....

    There are three "plugins" directories:
    1.drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins\
same directory as working Profile Data

    2.drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\plugins\
same directory as Clean default data - clean No Plugins

    3.drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\plugins\
    Clean No plugins.....Basic Application files......

I put the *.dll files in:
    1.drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins\
'cause I read it some place and it makes sense.......
Same directory as working Profile Data -extension etc

Looks to me like Portable FF will use plugins from either:
    drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins\ OR
    drive:\FF_Portable\FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\plugins\

Just keep on working at it, I am sure we wwill get it eventually....

I had them in the apps plugin.. but I moved them to the one you suggested and nothing has changed?

I also tried to to to file, open file and browse to "flashplayer-win.xpi" and it acts like its loading it, but then when the plugins window comes up its blank and it never loads?... I don't have any trouble at all loading other apps and plugins.

    windstrings,

Well, I am out of ideas....

It should work. Perhaps some else can jump in. I wont be offended :)

You are doing all the moving of files with FF portable closed aren't you ?

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thats ok... I just keep thinking they will come out with an update that fixes this.. I obviously am no the only one with issues..... while at home I can go to any site I want and it works perfect.... I think it must have to to with the portable version not being perfect yet, but being too dependent upon system resources to run.

They need to realize that the whole purpose of using a portable version is to have functionality on a computer that has nothing installed.

    I THINK I GOT IT!!!!

Your ideas gave me the help... rather than trying to find everything from all parts of my system.. I simply found the plugins directory in my FF2 and copied everything over the the same location.
I now am at work and it works!!!!

I have shockwave and its running from my thumbdrive.

Thanks Captain for being patient with this.
After I first copied everything over, it took a while for FF3 to come up... I guess it was reconfiguring and finding things and loading things?

Anyway.. it works now.... Youtube doesn't work, but thats only because its blocked from this facility, but google video and all the others are fine.

    Thanks!

I wonder if changing the name of my root directory of Firefox Portable to "Firefox Portable v3.01" could have ******* up the pathway?
If so... it didn't seem to bother FF2?When FF upgrades again, I wonder if it will mess things up to change the name again?... I'm afraid to try now.. I finally got it working!

Here are the files I copied to E:\0_Portable Progs\FirefoxPortable v3.01\App\firefox\plugins\
    1. flashplayer.xpt
    2. np32dsw.dll
    3. npnul32.dll
    4. NPSWF32.dll
    5. NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
    6. ShockwavePlugin.class

The plugins directory wasn't even located there.. I had to add it.

and here is another copy of my profile:
