Fatal Execution Engine error (0x7927e03e)

    Windows XP SP1
    NAV scan & AdAware scan revealed no problems. Windows XP updates done

    When attempting to download drivers from a Gateway site I get this error message
    Fatal Execution Engine error (0x7927e03e)
    and can't download drivers. Have searched BBS and knowledge bases -unable to find a solution.

    I need to download new drivers as both my CD-ROM and Cd-RW drives apparently have corrupted drivers, but that's a whole other problem.

    Please help

    This is a .NET error.

    So I suggest you uninstall/reinstall Microsoft .NET

    You can get it from Windows Update.

    Do I really need Microsoft.net? What would happen if I uninstalled and didn't re-install it?

    Not necessarily, but there are some programs which now require .Net to function. If you uninstall .Net and have a program which requires it you should get a popup dialogue advising that .Net is required.

    Tried to uninstall MS.net - couldn't do it. Also couldn't install the update for Ms.Net. I've given up on it. Thanks anyway.
