External harddrive issue.

I ordered a Rock mobile hard drive off of ebay and It came with no user manual. It is 1T capacity and of course I was able to transfer all my information to it. a week later when I connected to my computer it won't pick it up. It is a usb connection. I also saw that someone had this problem a year ago with the same hard drive. they mentioned getting a hard drive caddy (I don't know what that is) and that was the last thread posted. Would a hard drive caddy help? i have looked into data recovery, but that is $1500 and upwards. I paid $91 for the drive. I do need some of the information from it though. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

A caddy is basically an enclosure for your HD, perhaps the actual HD is fine but the caddy/enclosure has failed.

But before we look at hardware solutions could you please complete your system details? This will assist in ruling out any possible software/driver problems.
