Event ID 12002 is repeatedly logged in the event log on your Exchange 2000 computer

    Event Category: Content Engine
    Event ID: 12002
    Date: Date
    Time: Time
    User: N/A
    Computer: Computer Name
    Description: Error 8000FFFF-80000000 occurred while processing message <> from 'sender name'. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.

    This event may be recorded so frequently that the event log becomes full.

    Explanation
    These events are generated when messages in the user's mailbox fail to be converted. This can happen when antivirus programs strip off attachments from messages. The 12002 events are generated when a user with these messages in their mailbox, logs on to the server to access their mail.

    NOTE: I also found this related additional mail issue suggested cause and check:
    If you have installed a on access virus scanner, which is scanning the mail queues (which means, they are not excluded), and this scanner finds a virus infected mail, it may be removing the mail [or parts of it] quicker then the mail can be processed. If this is so, have a look at your VSI(1) folder and have a look into the queue. If you find messages, there, which will not be processed and if you open them, you find only a mail address, but no mail, this may be the issue.
