Cox won! Yesterday I called them again about my Security Suite problem... "ESP NT System... ". I called them to have a tech help me uninstall the Authentium security suite. I wanted to not just use the Add/Remove features, but also make sure there were no remnants of their program remaining in my system. After they did, I loaded ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It provides a reliable Firewall for incoming and outgoing traffic, and they just recently adopted the Kaspersky Antivirus program as part of their suite.

Guess what...I no longer get that error message, and the problem of dropped text as I try to type when online has gone away.

As you read my earlier posts, you will see that I went through all those phone calls to tech support and got "escalated" to the Cox Authentium tech support with no success. They don't know how to get rid of the problem. They have jumped on the "it isn't our software" mantra and want to blame it on IE7. "Everyone who calls in about this has upgraded to IE7. ", I was told. Gee...could that be that everyone who works with their XP on a regular basis has probably gone with the IE7 upgrade?

Anyway, as I said...I gave up. I appreciate all the help...tons of it...from staff and members here. I know we all had hopes that we could get to the bottom of the problem.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Well, it's not quite the ending you were looking for but to tell you the truth, I think you did the right thing and that's what I'd recommend to the next person who comes along with this problem. Thanks to you keeping after them and keeping us up to date on the situation I think we can safely assume, at least at this time, that they have no clue what the problem is. That's not necessarily a criticism of them. Just a statement of fact. That said, I think they should be telling people this right up front rather than dragging it on and on. I wonder how many hours have been wasted by them dragging everybody through the same routine over and over again.

"At this time we don't know what the cause is so until we do, please uninstall it and use brand x in it's place for now" would be a far better way to handle it in my opinion.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this. ;)

    COX strikes AGAIN!

I called COX "security suite services" (18882651886) after the First fix failed to work. A young lady technician answered and tried to help me.. She had never heard of the ESP NTSystem Service Launcher problem. I told her the first fix did not work.. and I talked to her.. telling her I needed to resolve the issue so I could continue with my work.

The lady did call Authentium.. (SP?) and talked to a software technician there..
They were "aware that some problems existed.. and were not trying to fix the problem. "

At that point.. I asked the lady to help me UNINSTALL the cox security suite and, after that was accomplished.. I reinstalled my older security software that I have relied on for years..

Thanks for your help guys.. I guess my problem has been solved without Cox..

So the only working solution at this point is to completely uninstall the Cox Anti-Virus/firewall suite.

Does anyone know of any FREE Anti-virus/Firewall suites available to download to replace the Cox suite? I can't afford to pay for another program at this point.

Why don't you look at ZoneAlarm? They have a free download of their firewall program and they have a free trial of their Antivirus program, with a reasonable price for it if you like the program. I was told by their tech last week, as I inquired about going back to them and dropping Cox, that they have brought in Kaspersky as their antivirus provider. As I shopped, I found out that Kaspersky is highly thought of by many of the techs around the internet. I wound up buying ZoneAlarms Internet Security Suite. You can see ZoneAlarms programs, trials, and prices at:

    Hi wmergen,

Just got the "ESP NT System Service Launcher" message as I was typing this. ***** hua...? I understand the frustration. I'm a newby to WindowsBBS. In answer to your queston........MS states that it will not answer your question on-line. It's just an error report. They say not to repeat you errors. Go figgure. You've been there before, I think we are without options.

I hope you'll take the time to review all the posts in this thread. A number of us, members and staff, put a lot of time and effort into trying to solve the problem. You'll see that none of us got any satisfaction from Cox and Cox Authentium techs re this problem. You can either live with it or drop Cox Internet Security Suite. I dropped it, and had several problems disappear as a result.
    Good luck.
