I hope this is the correct forum. I tried to install the software (AT&T Connection Manager)for the USB Quicksilver Wireless Communication Stick, and repeatedly got two error codes. Error 1904 comes first and the information with it is Files\PctelEapPeer.dll failed to register and authentication \PctelEapPeer.dll HRESULT- 2147024703. I have no idea what these mean or how to fix them. I contacted the techs at AT&T and they said that these error codes are Microsofts and to fix my PC. I had to return the stick (or pay for something that I could not use), so I took it back. There are other problems but I will restrict myself to just these two at this time. If anyone can help me, and walk me through what they need, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Arie, you are correct, and I am sorry for not making sure this information is in my profile or at least added in my post.

I went to the link above and tried to download the SIW and it said the program was corrupted. So, I'll try again and get this information updated.

Thanks for the help, sorry about the omissions.

    Hi Blue Skys,

I've just verified the link in Aries post and there's no problems here. you can try going to the gtopala homepage and downloading from there or alternatively PM me you email address and I'll send it to you.

    Blue Skys,

You have mail, let us know how it goes.

EDIT: Or you don't, my mailbox doesn't allow sending exe attachments but I note you've completed some system details.

Were you able to get SIW or shall I send it again (as a ZIP this time)?

Hi Wildfire: Well, I used the link above gtopala homepage. And downloaded lansweeper.zip (I hope that is the program I was supposed to get), anyway, I ran it as admin and got to the part "lansweeper Configuration, it asked me to pick a server, the drop down list had nothing to pick from, so, I hit next. Of course it stopped me and said I had to pick a SQL server. What is a SQL Server. It had a box to download a SQL server, but I need to know what it is and why i am doing it before i add something to my PC. Broni, (in the malware section, in this site) just helped me get ride of malware twice andIi promised him not to do something stupid again. So could you help me out again, please. Thanks a bunch, I'll keep checking back.

Err, who mentioned Lansweeper, I know it's prominently displayed on gtopala's page but if you read the link Arie supplied, my posts and even your posts, you'll see we are all talking about SIW

Hello again Wildfire: Well I finally found out what was going on when I tried to download SIW. The entire file was 2.2MB. For some reason I was getting just dribs and drabs. After 8 partial downloads, I finally got the full 2.2MB. I installed it and received a README - Notepad screen. Oh Yeah, during installation a box appreared stating that SWI Recommend downloading "Uniblue RegistryBooster, so I left the box checked. PLEASE tell me that was OK, and not some type of virus?????? The Uniblue is downloading as I type this. I minimized the screens and found a setup window stating "Unable to execute file:C\Program Files (x86)SIW\siw.exe What do I do now? I am really sorry, I thought I had it this time. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance!!

Since you only have a dial up connection (and a dodgy one at that) you'll probably be better going back to AT&T and asking for support, either that or go to another provider that will give you support. Even if these errors are from Vista any decent provider will support that OS.

I just found out after looking on at c:\programs (x86), that SIW is installed and seems to be working fine. At least for what the summary I read said it is supposed to do. I will finish my system information. So if that will give you the information you need to help me, please let me know. I really need the help. Thanks for all that you have done, and if you are ready to give up, I'll understand.

Not given up Blue Skys, we're in different timezones remember (It was gone midnighht when I last posted ;))

Anyway I still think AT&T should offer you more support than they have but if you want to continue trying this yourself let's check out a couple of things.

First off, are you installing the AT&T software using a administrator account?

Greetings Wildfire: Yes, absolutely. Each time I tried to install this software, I made sure it was in Admin acct. And the software loads up to a point, then I start getting the errors.

Please remember, as I said in my first post. I had to return the stick, BUT, I do have the latest software on a disk. So if I can get the software to load, then I'll go back to AT&T and re-purchase the stick. I could not see keeping the stick at over $60.00 a month just to try and fix the software errors. Does that seem justifiable? Money is really tight (over here anyway).

And I don't suppose it makes any difference now, but, my computer info is updated now.
And thanks again for helping me out!

 Missed that, there's a high chance you'll need the stick connected before the software will install.

I thought the same thing. The original stick came with old software in it, that's why the AT&T tech had me pick up a disk with the updated version. After I picked up the disk, and called from home, they had me insert the disk in my PC, and remove the stick from the usb. I did so, but still got the same error codes as with the old software. They insisted that my Windows Installer was messed up. Thats is when they said to fix my PC. And that is where you come in. So, I guess we can continue without the stick. But, just to make sure I will call AT&T in the morning, and make sure. Thanks for thinking of that. It would really be crummy to do all the work and find out that the error codes would go away if the stick was installed.

I'll get back to you asap. I'll call as soon as they open. Thanks again!!

I'm assuming the 1719 error message read something like
If that's the case (and even if not :D), follow the instructions here: Error message when you try to add or remove a program on a computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003: "The Windows Installer service could not be accessed "

Arie: you are right. the 1904 error comes first and if you hit "Ignore error" then you get the error 1719. I have been to the Vista Solution Center and looked around before I found this site. But, this may be a more direct route to my problem. Thanks
I went to this link. It said it was not for Windows Vista, and I should go to the Windows vista Solution Center. I clicked on a product "vista ". It to me to the v
"Vista solutio9n Center" in the search box typed in "error code 1719 ". That took me to 'the link to that site. Typed in the "Search box" Error code 1719. That took me to the "Search Knowledge Base" In Advanced Search I typed in "Error code 1719 ". That took me to "windows installer error code 1719 problem ". And gave me 4 posts. I went to post 1 posted by "MPV Moderator, they said to go to -start-run-type in "regsvr32 C:\Windows\system32\msi, hit enter. I did this and response was "The module "c:\Windows|system32\msi" was loaded but the call to Dllregister server failed with error code 0x80040201 for more information on the problem search online using error code as search term.

Post 2 said to go to "start - run - type in services.msc hit enter, double click Check the value in the "Startup type" field. If it's currently set to "Disabled ", then this is the problem. Change it by selecting "Manual" from the drop-down box. My installer was set to "Manual ", but the status showed "STOPPED ", I clicked on "START" and the status changed to "Started ".
One thing though, the "Apply" button stayed grayed out. I hit OK, and then restarted my pc. I then went to Start - Run- typed in services.msc. And the Installer was showing Stopped again. I doubled clicked again, started the installer again. This time I saw a small list on the side of the listed services. Showing Start Service and under it Stop Service. I hit Start Service this time it stayed started. I tried to install the AT&T software, but still got the same two errors (1904 & 1719).

Post 3 says is all that I've tried fails, reinstall the latest version of Windows Installer. And that is just what I am doing at this time. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if this cleans up my problem. You are great, and thanks for the speedy reply's.

OK, so I don't know what to do. I went to the Windows Installer Download site. There were only 7 different versions to pick from and not one of them said it ok for Vista SP2 64bit. So a little help is needed. Any advice you may be able to give will really be nice. Stumped again, but i really want to say thanks a bunch for your patience.
