I am on a contract with a Telco (OPTUS)and have been issued with a Sim card for my mobile Samsung Galaxy Tablet which I was led to believe could be linked to my Desktop or Laptop which doesn't seem to be the case.

Therefore I removed the Sim Card from the Tablet and placed in a Mobile modem stick of the Sam Telco (OPTUS.
By doing this I was hoping to receive the same connection afforded by the Tablet but when I attempt to logon with my Desktop PC I get a 619 error.

Is there a workaround or any way I can use the SimCard in both the Tablet and also the Mobile modem stick ?

Hope I have explained myself clearly enough.

    Neil,
Not sure what the difference is between a VPN and APN other than APN is the Access Profile/Point Name.
I took the Sim out of my tablet and inserted the Sim into my E160E modem stick.
Then in the Profile management section entered and saved a new Access Profile Name but with no success.
I tried a number of times editing and inserting New APN's no success.....so it is not that simple..it seems.
But I am confident that someone out there knows of a workaround.
    Thanks

Yes, there will be an answer no doubt. I wonder whether it's like cellphones where phones are dedicated to Telco's.
Telecom in NZ have a Sim card that isn't accepted by Vodaphones and yet 2° phone will accept the Vodaphone one. Neil.

Thanks Neil, but the both the Tablet and the stick are OPTUS so I figured an interchange between them would work...BUT these Telcos have probably got their profits ******* in so tight that they incorporate measures to prevent what i am wanting to do...using the one Sim to operate two different systems/programs/contracts.

BUT there are always workarounds it is just a matter of finding someone who knows it.
You guys are are really shaking the place and having your set of problems...floods here, earthquakes there.

Hi guys, you've wandered a bit off track, not sure if your'e in a bunker or in the rough, so let's get back on par eh!
Whilst I didn't find the answer to the 619 I did find the solution to my problem which was being able to utilize my Samsung Galaxy Tab as a modem facility for my lap and desktop.
This has alleviated me from having to purchase a separate and additional Broadband contract connection.
And how did I source all this information...from my mobile phone whilst I was away from home visiting rellies.

Anyway, trust you have gotten back on course and being below par in that setting is good for you.

Thanks for the news. Glad to see that it hasn't cost you the earth to find the fix. Cheers Neil.
