I am getting the above error, I tried to change the boot sequence to boot from CD drive first and put Bart PE in the drive, but it still would not boot.
Am I looking at a MB failure?
Reading other BBs, it appears that this is a LENOVO problem, and seems to be connected to the SATA cable.
Also, it must be going on for a while, because people with WIN XP have this problem.
When I get the chance, I will try to replace the cable and hope that helps.

I finally managed to boot this computer with a USB stick with Macrium on it. After it was running, it did not show a drive to image. Like there was no drive.
After that I booted with the repair cd I made when we first got the computer. It booted fine and I selected "repair this drive" or something like that, but it tells me it cannot. Then I selected "Refresh this drive" it comes back with: the drive windows is installed on, is locked, unlock the drive and try again.
Q: how do I unlock the drive?

    Thanks
    Sven

Hi Sven. Does the hard drive show up if you enter your computers BIOS/UEFI?

Can you boot into the advanced recovery options using your repair DVD?

I don't know, I will try tomorrow and let you know, It tells me that the drive is locked, so I don't think I can boot into the recovery partition
    Thanks

    PeteC,
thanks for the link, I started to read the posts, but have to get back there when I have a little more time to try to understand what is going on.

    Evan,
I looked at the BIOS and found that SATA1 is not listed, SATA2 in the DVD drive.
I guess that tells me it can not find a Hard drive. I guess, the next step is to reseat the wires and if that does not work, replace the wire.
If that does not solve the problem, I have either a bad hard drive or a bad MB.
When I get a chance I will open the thing up and report back. might take a while.
Thanks to both of you for your help
    Sven

    I just remembered something,
When this started, I was rebooting several times by either hitting the power button or the 3 finger salute. I never heard the initial Beep. last night I did hear the beep and was able to boot with a usb stick and the repair CD. is this another indicator that my MB is on its way out?

Probably a hard drive problem. Since they are mechanical, (with moving parts that cause wear and tear), they are much more prone to fail than motherboards.

I sure hope it is not a MB. it would be cheaper to replace the computer.
I'm going to try the wire first an see what happens.
an odd thing: I can boot with the repair CD I made, but can not boot with Bart PE. I know that cd is good.
    Any idea?

Test your CD's in another comp. That way you will definitely know if the CD will open. Neil.

SVEN, I'm assuming that this problem comp is not the one in your System Details.
Have you changed the BIOS to Legacy drive?
Swapped the SATA cable between the HDD and the DVD? Neil.

This is not my computer, it is in the office. I have not open it up yet, but I will take you suggestion and swap the cable, that should tell me if the cable is OK, because my CD drive works.
Since windows was installed with AHCI (is that the setting?) I was told that windows will not boot unless you change something in windows. then again, it is not booting now, so what is the harm in trying, right? I will give it a try when I get back to the office, not before Monday.
    Thanks for the suggestion's.
