Error 126 while starting remote desktop service

    Hi

    I am using Windows7 Ultimate with SP1. While trying to start remote desktop services I am getting below error

    "Windows could not start the Remote Desktop Services service on Local Computer "

    Error 126: The specified module could not be found

    Can someone help

    Hi ritesh5882, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    I would run SFC from Command Prompt to make sure that there are no corrupt Windows files on your system.

    Click Start< type Command Prompt in the Start Search box. When Command Prompt appears in the list, right click it and select Run As Administrator. After Command Prompt opens type sfc /scannow and hit enter. The process could take a while.

    After SFC finishes, close the Command Prompt and reboot the computer. See if you can Start the Remote Desktop Services now.

    Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

    Hi Thanks Evan

    I am using Windows 7 ultimate with SP1. Build version is 6.1.7601.
    I ran sfc/scannow and CBS log says that my termsrv.dll is corrupted.
    It pointed to location
    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-t..teconnectionmanager_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_90a6abb3b286306d

    From where can i get a fresh termsrv.dll for version 6.1.7601.17514..

    Do you have another Windows 7 system that you have access to where you can copy that dll file over to your installation?

    Have you tried running System Restore and restoring your system to a date before this error message occurred?

    The problem is my other system has build 7600 and not 7601. Will it work if i copy from that..

    You can try it but before you replace the dll file, back it up first.

    I copied it from build 6.1.7601.17514 and Error 126 gone away. But now i am getting a new error.. It says
    "Windows could not start the Remote Desktop Services service on Local Computer "

    Error 193:0xc1

    Can you make out anything.. this is a common error which might come while starting many of the services.. I could not find solution for this. Please help..
