Erasing data from drive

Good morning!

I was just reading through here, and have a program to add to the list of suggestions already posted here.

I recommend a program called Autoclave. It's free, works superbly, and is provided by a guy named Josh Larios from Washington University.

I've used this software many times, and it works as "advertised ". I have not tried the longest version that's supposed to completely sterilize the hard drive, but have never had need to do that.

Hope knowing about this little proggie can help someone out!

 

Erasing data from hard drive

Here's a great little utility that lets you thoroughly erase anything that you would normally just delete to the Recycle Bin. When installed it gives you an extra option on your "right-click menu" to "Shred" in addition to Delete. Then it overwrites that hard drive space 8 or more times with 0s and 1s to prevent recovery. It's called Supershredder. It's fairly small and it's free to download at www.analogx.com . They also have a nice little pop-up ad killer called POW! which is also free (you tell it which windows to "kill" and it remembers them in future, so it builds up a list of stuff to kill).
