attachments, automatically PGP-sign outgoing signature-bearing messages, view certain embedded graphics without the need to install further software and obtain upgrades at no cost (without the need to suffer advertisments). "

My email program, Mulberry, can do all the above except view certain embedded graphics--which is just as well, as far as I'm concerned, since embedded graphics can pose a security risk. Like Eudora, Mulberry isn't tied to Windows or IE; it has versions for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris, and it supports both IMAP and POP. I like it because it's so feature-rich: if I want to do something, chances are there's a way to do it in Mulberry. It's not free, but the cost is very modest--about $35, I think. Needless to say, there are no ads.

One additional feature that I really love: it has the best tech support I've ever seen, both responsive and knowledgeable. One of the developers actively reads and responds to the email list, and the tech support also responds relatively quickly to email sent to them rather than to the list. Also, a number of the Mulberry users on the list are also very knowledgeable and helpful.

One negative: right now, the main version uses multiple windows rather than the three-pane view used by Netscape and a number of other programs. Many people like that, but some are eagerly awaiting the new version, currently in alpha, which will give you a choice of 3-pane or multiple windows.

I should add that I have no connection to Mulberry except for being a happy user.

    An IncrediMail thumbs-up

    Hi Paul,

Hope I'm not too late to get into the fray.

Being the "Windows baby" that I am I have never tried any of the other e-mail programs listed above. I learned how to use OE and it will do all that I want it to do - every time. 'Nuff sed about that.

However, if you are looking for an e-mail program that you can have some real fun with, I have to agree whole-heartedly with Kitty Cat about IncrediMail. It does things that no other single e-mail program that I have ever seen will do. Rather than me go into all of it, click on KC's link above and see for yourself.

I have had IncrediMail installed on two computers for more than two years and we have had a lot of fun with it. For business e-mails we use OE exclusively (for the perception of professionalism, don't ya know) but for some of stuff we send to friends & family, the kids and grandkids we use IncrediMail a lot. The grandkids, especially, love getting IncrediMails. :D One of the really great things about IncrediMail is that you don't have to have it installed on your computer to experience the receiving of an IncrediMail. :)

My 2 cents worth just turned into a buck and a half so I'll shut up now. I'm not a stock holder, OBTW, I just wish I was !!

    Mike

KC's link doesn't seem to be working. Try this one.
