I do the same thing regardless whether one has been made or not.

By that do you mean turning SR on and OFF ?

Is that different that doing it through My Computer Icon an the Desktop ?

System Restore

This thread is really getting long. You'll have to let me know when it's time to quit.

That Wednesday checkpoint is still there even after today's activities:
Restore failed.
Created new restore point.
Successful restore after that point created.
Created a new restore point after successful restore.

There are no restore points before Wednesday (I had tried the Aug 31 and Aug 30 points when it failed Wednesday - new restore point created Wednesday evening - all other restore points deleted.

I don't know why Wednesday is still there - just seems finicky and unreliable to me.

 

System Restore

Sorry, but I just thought of something that may affect how SR operates.

Wednesday I disabled and then enabled SR and waited for SR to create it's own RP - that was Wednesday evening. All previous restore points were deleted.

Today, I did not disable. When the SR failed, I CREATED a new restore point, ran successful restore afterward, and CREATED another restore point. Wednesday's restore point still there.

Maybe that is why Wednesday is still there - have to disable - creating new restore point does not delete previous points.

I think it should - gets really confusing.

Anyway, I'm glad I learned that a new restore point is not automatically created after a successful restore - not immediately. I would have probably gotten a new restore point this evening if I had waited.
