    Greetings - I'm a newby.
    Computer full of viruses that would boot to Windows XP Media and then freeze - no programs were accessible. I installed XP Home on c:\windows2 so that I could run scans. Install was successful. I was able to scan and delete the numerous trojans/viruses. Now I have 2 operating systems and the option of which to use on startup. My question is - is it fine to leave both operating systems on the machine, or should one be removed and if so, how do you remove it?
    Thanks folks for being here.

    Hi GoNana,

    It's fine to leave both OS's installed (as long as you have a license for both) but you may also wish to visit the Malware removal section to confirm your system is truly clean. Your scanners may have missed something that the experts can pick up.

    Please read this and post requested logs in the Malware and virus removal board.

    NOTES:
    When posting the logs ensure word wrap is switched off (in notepad Uncheck Format->Word Wrap) as this makes them difficult to read.

    Be aware that only Malware analysts will advise and they are often busy. Your post will be taken on a first come first served basis but it may take a while before you receive a reply.

    Include a link to this thread if you can.

    Would it not cause problems , with both XP's on the same partition ? Both XP's would be using the same Program File folder. The way I read it is one XP is installed under folder 'Windows' and the second is 'Windows2'.

    Thanks everyone. TopFarmer is correct, both systems are on my c drive which is not partitioned. They are, however, under the root directory separately and not in the program folder, i.e. c:\windows and c:\windows2.

    @TopFarmer,

    No problems with both OS's on same partition, though GoNana may need to install problem applications on each OS to keep registry and other settings up to date.

    @GoNana,
    I'd still advise a visit to the antimalware board just to be safe.
