Just looking back through my last post and see that I should have also given you this command

    regedit.exe /e c:\IELM.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main "

The first one was for Current User settings. This one is for Local Machine. They will both affect your preferences. Notice this one will create a text file named IELM.txt

Well it's sure good to here we killed the bad guy. Try trimming down your running services according to Black Viper's recommendations for the way you use your computer. I've found that his 'safe' settings usually suffice.

You'll want to keep IESpyad. It puts many sites into the restricted zone, further protecting you from getting junk on your PC. The others are pretty much specialized tools and can be deleted at your discretion, but may come in handy for future use. ;)

Yes, you can always download and reinstall should it ever again become necessary. Chances are, in all reality, that the way these CoolWebSearch folks are rewriting their programs, those tools may soon prove useless anyway, and more advanced tools will be created and needed for removal of future strains. Hopefuly, the protections you have recently installed, along with keeping up-to-date with Windows Update, as well observing safe surfing habits, will prevent future infections. This thread is so long and I don't remember, nor have I looked back through it, but did you install SpywareBlaster? If so, make sure you check for updates occasionally. If you didn't, I do recommend doing so.

Let us know if trimming down the running services helps with your performance issues.
