I have a laptop with a drive letter that has no HW associated with it. It's listed as:

    Local Disk (Q:)

If I try to open it, I get a message that says it's not accessible. The properties show it has 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free. It doesn't show up in either the Device Manager or the Disk Management programs.

I use Win 7 Home Premium.

How do I get rid of it?

If it's bugging you try in Windows Explorer Tools > Folder Options > View (or Control Panel > Folder Options) and ensure that 'Hide empty drives' is checked.

Could be a card reader - many laptops have an integral card reader these days, but why Q:\ I have no idea :)

It may have been put there with Pogoplug's SW, but if I start the Pogoplug resident SW, It uses R:. I would like to get the drive letter back because I have SyncToy setup to use Q: for backup.

I deleted Office 2010 Beta and the problem didn't go away. I tried the registry edit and it wan't clear to me what to delete on the step where it said to Modify the Value Data before you delete the reference to Q:, so I didn't do that. I will continue to search to see if there is another way to solve the problem but thanks again.

There was another module to uninstall and that solved the problem. My apology to PogoPlug for accusing them.
