Do a Search for Downloads. Then click on the download you want to open. Neil.

What browser are you using? Windows 7 sorts downloads by file type. Program files may be in your user/downloads/programs folder. There may also be another downloads folder elsewhere. Some files may go into the Documents folder. If you accidentally saved a program file into a wrong folder, all subsequent default saves could also end up there. Try downloading a test file, choose 'save as' and look to see what folder pops up. That may be where everything else is. Otherwise, do a test download, make a note of the file name, then search for it as advised above. If you did accidentally change the default, download something and click 'save as', then save it to the correct folder. That should restore the default where you want it.

Windows 11 IE. Downloads until yesterday saved into Downloads icon on the Desktop. In the Start, typing Downloads opens the Downloads Icon Desktop, clicking shows as "Empty" and requires to open Accounts icon named as Robert, where the saved programs appear to now being saved. What is required to redirect programs to the Desktop Icon named "Downloads "?

Right-click on your Downloads icon on the Desktop. You should see the path to the actual folder. Copy this. Then download any test file in IE 11 and choose 'Save As'. You will probably see a path to the folder you don't want followed by a file name. Just replace that with the path you copied and a name for the test file. After it is saved you can delete the test file. This should reset the default to the folder you want.

Tried out suggestion. File did save in C:\Users\Robert and not as previous in the DeskTop Download Icon. A "Restore" has not remedied this error.

In the upper right hand corner of IE is a "gear" for tools.... Then there is an option to View Downloads.

I thank you for the latest suggestion, this means that it requires using IE11 each time a download is imminent. What has caused the non-functional of my Downloads Shortcut in Desktop, or can it be rectified. Fault appears to be unique to my computer, at least now trace downloads to IE11 View Downloads.

Not sure I understood any of your last post.

As a general rule - down loaded files go where You tell them to go.

In that same View Downloads is an Options button - in there you can change the default location.

Checked View Downloads and clicked Options. Option box shows [Robert ], I thought that changing [Robert ] to [Desktop ] would solve this, however trying to over write {Robert ] with [Desktop ] appears as not allowed. Browse content list, does not appear to show "Desk Top ". Can you please advise procedure to changing Robert to Desktop.
