Resolved Do I need Browsersafeguard?

    My browsers have all of a sudden slowed down terribly. I think it may be
    " browsersafeguard" but I'm not sure. My ? is, what am I going to be in for if I remove it?

    That's what I thought. Thanks for the info. I'll Revo uninstall it to get rid of everything. I'll also look for iBryte to see if there is anything else running around in there. Thanks so much.

    Hi DPI Graphics. Lets see what is going on with the machine.

    1. Please download AdwCleaner and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator.

    2. When the program opens click on the Scan button.

    3. Then when the program has finished scanning, click on the Clean button. The program will reboot the computer. Attach the AdwCleaner log in your next reply.

    4. Next, download the Junkware Removal Tool and save it to your desktop. Run the program by right clicking on it and selecting Run as administrator and attach the JRT log in your next reply.

    You can attach logs by clicking on the Upload a File button when you are responding to your thread.

    Instead of attaching the files, copy and paste them. Lots of people including me don't/won't click on them to open them up. Never know what is lurking there. Not saying that you would post something bad like this. Hope you understand.

    You didn't have to attach and post the logs. I just prefer attaching them since they are easier for me to sort through.

    Is the browser safeguard program still coming up?

    No the browser safegaurd pgm is gone but it still acts like the download buffer is way too small. For instance, if I try to play a you tube file, it will only play a few seconds then pause like it is re buffering. Or if I download a graphics file, it will download just a few K then pause for a while and download a few more K. Some pages with lots of graphics on them take minutes to load. I have high speed cable but it acts like I have dial-up. You know, I guess I could go back & restore it to maybe a week ago to see if that makes any difference. I have only added 1 application since the first of the year, it was CCleaner.

    I have to get up @ 4:00 so I'm going to bed now. I'll check back tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help.

    I am going to air on the side of caution and have your computer checked for any other malware infections before we troubleshoot this issue further.

    Please read this and post a new thread in the Malware and Virus Removal Forum.

    Once your computer has been declared clean then post back in this thread with an update on your issue.

    OK but before I do that, I want to do a reset on the modem. The machine seems to be running fine as long as I don't have to get data from the web so that might solve the problem. If it doesn't, I'll go thru the diagnostics, then close out this thread. If it does solve it I'll let you know & close out this thread. OK?

    I reset the modem & that seems to have solved along with cleaning out the SafeGuard stuff. I'll run it like this for a couple of days to see if there any other problems.
