Resolved Defender nags

As a postscript, sometimes things coincide. After concluding this discussion I happened to stumble across some material on malvertising and because of this discussion, I made a point of carefully reading through it all. It was a real eye-opener. In just the last few years, things have really changed. I have escaped anything bad up to now because I am careful about clicking on things and because I normally have automatic stuff like pop-ups and Flash disabled but now I am going to turn my security up another notch. Things have become much worse than I realised.

 

Malvertising has actually been around for almost 10 years but has gained in popularity significantly with the bad guys over the last couple years. IE has been able to detect malvertisement since IE9. The other browsers, if kept current do too. Disabling Adobe Flash is a good preventative measure.
