Hi fateh singh, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

What media player are you using to play flv files?

If you use Windows Media Player then try downloading and installing the K Lite Codec Pack. See if flv files play properly in Windows Media Player after installing the codec pack.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Try this fix, Playing video files crashes or freezes Internet Explorer or Windows.

Also if that doesn't work try this:

    1. Click Start< Run.
    2. Type regedit and hit enter.
    3. Browse to the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\shellex\PropertyHandler.
    4. Delete the Key on the right hand side called "default" by right-clicking and hitting Delete.
    5. Close the Registry Editor
    6. Click Start< Run and type REGSVR32 /U SHMEDIA.DLL

If none of those options work then try this, Disable Thumbnail Previews in Windows 7 or Vista Explorer.
