Does anybody know how I can recover the "Tapia.sys" file? If I try to boot from the system on my root drive, I get the dreaded Blue screen. It states that the tapia.sys file caused the stop. everything seems to run as long as I boot with my boot disk. I wold like to recover the file on my boot drive.
    Thanks DPI.

That isn't a windows file, and google doesn't seem to come up with anything pertaining to it except your post about it on here. Can you get into Safe Mode?

That file is responsible for running the CD drives. However, when it creates a blue screen, it can be the result of a rootkit infection as the file was modified maliciously. Merely replacing the file just won't fix the problem in this case and I recommend a visit to the Malware and Virus Removal section.

    Malware and Virus Removal

If you want to try just replacing the file, boot into Safe Mode if possible, and use this command in the Run window "sfc /scannow ". You may be prompted for your windows CD.
