Go back into msconfig and ensure that the things you unchecked......still are.

Go into your control panel, then add/remove....and look to see if AVG is in the programs list. (Or anything else that sounds suspicious.) If you find them..uninstall them.

Go back and turn on system restore.

Run the removal tool for magistr once more.

    Run Housecall once more.

Come back and let us know after these have been done, what your results are.

The final step of cleaning this system will be a check for spyware. We'll get you to download and run ad-aware after your virus infection is truly handled once and for all.

I wnt back into msconfig and everything that I unchecked are still unchecked.

I went into the Add Remove Programs and I did not see anything with AVG listed. Nothing looked suspicious so I didn't uninstall anything.

I went back and turned on system restore.

Run the removal tool for magistr once more. It said Scanning 41671, infected 0, repaired 0.

Ran Housecall once more and it said there were no viruses found.

I also downloaded the Ad-Aware System the other day and ran it then but today updated it and ran it again. It found 4 New objects and I deleted them.

WOW, we must be getting there. Any thing else you would like me to do or do you think her computer is OK finally.

Looks like you're getting it in good shape now.
    Delete temp files.....do a scandisk then a defrag.....and reboot.

How does it run after all this has been done?

    Hi Daizy,

Well it honestly looks as though the computer is running well now. I did a scan disk & disk defrag (earlier they wouldn't run) and finished with no problems.

I deleted all the temporary files I could find and any other junk I felt was unnecessary. It is running like a charm.

I suppose it must have been that virus that caused all the problems.

Thank you so very much for all the time and effort you put into helping me help my friend. They will be so pleased when they return from their trip.

    Thank you again.
