Computer does not boot up in Windows 10

    I suspect that the issue is with hardware rather than the OS and the PC may indeed have reached the end of it's life, Aside of recycling it your remaining option is the local computer shop if you feel like going down that route.

    The only valuable part of the comp will be the data on the HDD. It's well out of warranty so my advice would be to get the HDD out of the comp and retain it.
    Tell your friend to purchase a suitable machine (laptop or desktop) and then you can train her in the correct manner and use and maybe transfer the data from the old HDD to the new unit.
    As Pete suggested - disposal of the old unit through E disposal places.
