More than half the time when I close MSXP, one file does not close and I have to manually close it. The culprit is ccSvcHst. How do I fix this annoying problem. Thank you.

Do you have any Norton product installed? If you do post back here. If you do NOT, read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

    Hi NeverBoring,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

The problem with the "ccSvcHst" process not shutting down properly at system shutdown can be resolved by running a tool that Symantec has developed.

First, make sure that you are using Norton 360 version 2.x and not version 1. As long as you have a valid subscription to Norton 360, you can update to Norton 360 version 2.x for free. Using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, click on the link below to visit the Norton Update Center. Follow the instructions on that page to update.

    Norton Update Center

Once you have Norton 360 version 2,x installed, manually run LiveUpdate to ensure that you have all of the latest patches applied.

Next, using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, click on the link below and follow the instructions to run the tool to resolve the issue.

Fix for "ccSvcHst" issue at shutdown with Norton 360 2

    Thanks,
    Mike

First, I did not receive via email the post from Arie, a belated thank you. Second, if I had known that the problem was Norton 360 2, I would have asked Peter about it. Third, the solution offered by Michael York worked, thank you Mike. And, thank all who maintain this exceptional BBS.

Honestly, Norton 360 2 is the best product Norton or Symantec Corporation has ever sold. It works and and it works exceeding well.

    Best regards,
    Gary S. Norton

    Hi NeverBoring,

I am also happy to hear that the Norton 360 2.x update resolved your issue.
