MrBill, CCleaner Cookies box is ticked when first installed. I have not run CCleaner all day, however MSE remains unprotected when first run of computer and connected to the Internet. Luckyly, after a few seconds MSE reverts to protected. I am unable to understand as to what is causing this error.

Bobby. OK on the cookies. Haven't installed it in a while other then new updates for it. I must of unchecked cookies then. I never shut my PC off other than for a power failure or if something I installed/uninstalled wants a reboot. Then it does show MSE as unproteced for a few seconds as it it booting up. It must try to access the internet before the new connection is established to my Modem/Router. Then once that happens, everything is fine. I have seen others with the same complaint on a fresh boot or a reboot.
In other words, MSE boots with the PC and the connection is a little behind it.

MrBill, error I refer to, shows without any reboot of the computer. Probably MSE reboots itself at sometime during my session on the computer.

I have had this same problem with MSE. It also has been known to happen if the Windows Defender and MS AntiMalware boxes are checked in CCleaner as well. I just leave any boxes having to do with AV programs unchecked.

Both of mine are checked and no problems using XP Home and Pro and Win. 7 Pro. My Spybot is also checked.

Reading the latest comment on CCleaner, I can not find reference on my installed copy of CCleaner for MS Defender and MS Malware or perhaps that I am looking in the wrong place. I believe that MS Defender was superceeded by MS Security Essentials and that both versions will not allow to be installed in the computers hard drive.

Look in the Applications tab under Utilities and also under Windows.

MrBill, I must have a different version of CCleaner as I am unable to find applications Utilities and Windows or simply I am missing the entries in CCleaner version v3.16.1666(64bit). MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 My computer Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz 4.0GB Ram, Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family.

There may be a difference between 32 and 64 bit. I have 32 and looks like you have 64.

That has got to be it. Don't know why that would make a difference though.

After all said done, it seems that MS Security Essentials is affected by Spybot Search and Destroy and not as CCleaner as originally thought.

It has been awhile since I ran Spybot. It didn't have any affect on MSE. I will run it later and see what happens.

Stopped using Spybot ages ago. Found that Malwarebytes was a better scanner.

I have done a full scan with MBAM and nothing turned up. Spybot run after that and catch a thing or 2. MBAM is my preferred, but I always run Spybot also if something is suspected on a PC.

Just updated and ran Spybot and nothing happened to MSE. Also did CCleaner and MBAM.

Thank you for your findings. I installed SpywareBlaster, boy it installed much other software, that altered my Web page -- removed in full SB and co.

SpywareBlaster doesn't install anything but itself. Unless you went and got it someplace that snuck something else in. I always get the stuff like that from MajorGeeks. They host for lots of software and don't try to sneak stuff in there. What did it install besides SB?

Sorry that I did not take down titles, at least eight. One that stood out was "Funmoods ". SB left marks of itself all over the hard drive registry, managed to remove what was refered but probably some references to SB remains. I appear to be unlucky with downloads, SB offers a paying version that could remove the numerous unwanted titles. SB was downloaded from Web page typing SpywareBlaster. If all references removed from computer, a lucky escape.

www.spywareblaster.com is not the official site for SpyBot. What you have downloaded & installed is most probably a malware.

The official site is SpyBot Search & Destroy.

Please don't bad mouth a perfectly good product because you made a mistake.
