can't type letter, it could be virus

just share my experience

lately i got problem with my keyboard.i'm using HP mini note OS win XP SP2
the problem is i can't type some letter with my keyboard.

it started 2 months ago, i forgot what it caused when i can't type "8 ", "m ",and "\ ". i cleaned my keyboard but it didn't work, so i tried to scan with avast in safe mode. avast detect that there is virus but can do nothing. so i shift+delete the folder which contain the virus. then it solved my key was back.

everything is good until few days ago i got files from my friend. then the key is lost again. i just wonder, why it's only my laptop, but my friend's not. at first i cant type: "B ".., i tried to go in safe mode, but avast didn't work anymore in safe mode (i wonder is this caused by virus too?) so i restore my laptop with system restore. after restore i got my problem solved.

the pain is in the next day when i got my laptop on, then i can't type not only "B ", but also "V ", "5" and "," since i cant use avast in safe mode, so i started to use another antivirus to back up avast., based on my friend recommendation, i use SMADAVhttp://www.smadav.net and my first try.. it solved!!now i can use my keys again..

but of course not all the virus files cleaned, some just got quarantined. maybe i can share it in .rar later. just tell me where to upload it in this forum.

i'm just beginner, what i wrote was my experience only. because i got hard to find the solution in many forum for this keyboard problem. most of them are hardware problem and some solution using command prompt (which is for beginner like me, need to learn more).
