Can't install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

    Hi,
    I'm trying to install .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 on 32 bit Windows XP Service Pack 2 since my new Blackberry Desktop Manager requires it and I am continuously receiving the following errors:

    Hi Mike, I think you will need to install XP SP3 first. Support for SP2 has ended and I have SP3 installed on all my comps including laptop without any problems.

    .NET3.5 SP1 is installed on this comp sweet as. Cheers Neil.:D

    Hi Mike, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Try following these steps to resolve your .Net Framework issue:

    1. Download and run the .Net Framework Cleanup tool from, here.

    2. Make sure there are no versions of .Net Framework listed in Add/Remove programs.
    If you do find any versions of .Net Framework listed remove them.

    3. Click Start< My Computer and browse to C:/Windows. Rename the C:/Windows/Assembly folder to Assembly.old.

    4. Restart the computer.

    5. Install .Net Framework 3.5 from, here. Once .Net Framework 3.5 is installed then install .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 from, here.

    6. Once thats done you need to upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 3. After SP3 is installed hopefully the computer will run well and .Net Framework will be installed without any issues.

    Let me know if you can get .Net Framework to install correctly.

    I followed your advice from your previous forum posting and it worked a treat.
    I had prior to this searched everywhere for a solution, to no avail.
    Thank you very much for your help. I have now stopped tearing my hair out.
