Can't install itunes cause of quicktime?

    I've tried going to control panel to remove quicktime, but i get the error "the configuration data for this product is corrupt. "
    Went to microsoft fix it and ran MicrosoftFixit50123 but got the message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. "
    Went to system32 and removed everything with the name "quicktime" in it.
    Went to Windows Installer package and changed the "manual" box to "automatic. "
    Tried to download "windows Installer cleanup utility" but it wouldn't install on my computer.
    Tried to download a diver clean up/repair program but it needed money.
    I also re-registered Windows Installer by going to start-run and typing in "msiexec /regserver "
    And I tried to download a new version of Windows Installer "WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86" and that didn't work.
    I just want to run itunes.. can somebody please help me? Also, I didnt know where i should've posted this thread to.

    Hi lolmaolol, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Since you can't remove quicktime from Add/Remove programs, download and run the portable version of revo uninstaller from here. (Its at the bottom of the download link).

    Once the program opens search for any apple products including quicktime and select uninstall. After the process finishes reboot the computer.

    Next download a fresh copy of itunes from here.

    Hopefully itunes will install properly. What Service Pack does the computer have installed?

    Thanks for trying to help, Evan. But I had looked around the site before and seen the revo uninstaller. I tried to uninstall quicktime from there, but got the same message as I got on control panel, "the configuration data for this product is corrupt." I need a program that has a better force deleting on it. Or maybe a fix to my registry or the Windows Installer. That's essentially the problem here.

    The information that was asked for is because different flavors of Windows require different steps to make things work properly.
    You can't put diesel fuel in a gas engine and expect it to run.

    actually, i had already done the advanced left over scan before. i removed mostly all of it. still doesnt work.

    I assume when you attempt to install itunes you get the configuration data for this product is corrupt error message? Or do you get a different error message during the installation?
