I believe my computer came with an ethernet connection but when we got DSL the techs found it defective. We purchased the Linksys and connected with that. As far as I know, only one is connected and active. I just checked the specs of my computer and the it came with Intel® PRO 10/100Mbps integrated Ethernet LAN.

it can be finicky to get into router's web based control panels
first go into the tools > options > connection controls of your internet explorer
Look at " lan settings "
    Make sure all are unchecked
    Clear the cache and try
    reboot if not
    next try firefox
it may at some point magically pop up
At the worst you can always reset the router to defaults by pressing the button at the rear
However ensure that you have your dsl log on info -account and password to set up the router from scratch
