I changed my email address from AOL to the address of my ISP (satx.rr.com) and have not been able to open any PPS since. I know that I can save them and then open a folder full of PPS attachments, but it is a pain.

So, is there any way to open a PPS directly from a received email?

My apologies... Dell Inspiron, Intel Pentium, Windows Vista, Internet Explorer. Is that enough?

I recently was advised to uninstall AVG (free) because, for reasons unknown, I could no longer send emails from my WinMail account. Therefore, all I have for security is what the Microsoft guy downloaded for me. For $60....

Yes, I have Open Office. However, before I changed my email address, I didn't need Open Office or any other application (that I know of) to open a PPS in a regular email. I don't understand what changed to prevent me from just clicking on the paper clip and going immediately to the PPS attachment.

If I should not proceed with those downloads under these circumstances, please let me know... I am also having a terrible time in trying to download ie spell check. It just won't download, and when I try to enable it where the add-ons are listed, the computer switches it back to "disabled" right before my very eyes every time. ??? Anyway, let me know how I should proceed. Thanks so much.

    Hello again noclue,

First and foremost..... Please do as Arie says. Your in danger of having post locked out for not following directions and board custom (faq). Most important to know and see at a glance, your system specs, particularly when in a generic forum like "mail ".

The previous microsoft download and instructions for installation of "Power point viewer" can't be made to much easier or user friendly. <- That said, "Open Office" should also be able to open pps. Either of these will do. Instructions for double checking association for pps and making sure "Open Offices" version {replacement/twin} of "power point" is default, {if this is your preference} is:
    http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=12918

The link mentions and has download link to a tool [utility] for helping in Oo_O association. I didn't check this out but you may wish to. It may help make this process even easier for you.

As said, "either or both ", the choice is yours. Just calmly and thoroughly read through all the steps in the links. Follow the steps, one by one, and you should have no problem. They are quite clear and user friendly. Nothing dangerous here nor anything that can't be reversed.

    -------------------
Seems to me, if you search your old posts you may find the solution that worked for you in the past. I believe you've had this same or similar issue in the past.
