I downloaded the Vista System Update Readiness Tool (Windows6.0-KB947821-v12-x86) 32-bit, but when the program tries to install after initializing, the install progress bar never appears, the install seems to just "hang" and not do anything. I tried to cancel the install but the program appears to get stuck, I have to use task manager to cancel the install.

Looked at solutions on line and tried to re install Windows6.0-KB947821-v12-x86 after clean boot with same results as above.

Saw a solution that suggested installing Windows Vista Premium Home Upgrade, but I have the full cd version Of Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit and do not see an option for upgrade, only to install the whole program. Won’t I lose all my data if I do install the full version?

Please help! I am jumping these hoops because have tried for several days to install a new version of Adobe CS5 Extended and after trying many on line solutions and Adobe support I am now thinking the problem is with Windows Modules Installer which I understand Vista System Update Readiness Tool may be able to repair.

All solutions are welcome and thanks for your help

Hi artbug222, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Try this, click Start< All Programs< Accessories< Right click Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator. When the Command Prompt window opens type sfc /scannow and hit enter. After the process finishes reboot the computer and see if the System Update Readiness Tool will install.

If SFC doesn't resolve the issue then try running the Microsoft fix from here, How do I reset Windows Update components?

Is the computer running Windows Vista Service Pack 2?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.
