cannont open any exe. proghrams

I got a virus and with the help of Norton, got rid of it. After that I was able to open some programs like word, and Internet explorer. My other programs do not work and i get a box that pops up saying that I need to choose an appropriate program. Any program i use does not work.... .help please!!

NOTES:
