Ever since I changed the the value in the registry the only files I have in there is layout.ini and NTOSBOOT-BOODFAAD.pf. I just added a new HDD to my comp. The first things I take of is Prefetch, I get rid of Compressed Old Files in Disk cleanup, and I disable WebClient Publisher Temporary Internet Files. I haven't had any problems with my machine other than my typing skills(which are terrible by the way).

    Charles,

I believe it pertains mainly to spyware/malware/virus, since most of them only run on an executable and maybe a dll (often hidden these days), along with some registry entries. Obviously, if you uninstall a program, it can't run again from Prefetch, as it will have no file base on which to run.
