Did you look in Device Manager to see if there are issues with the sound driver?

system is clean no conflict. was built brand new. had client reinstall audio drivers. if that dont work will put warranty claim in cuz it could be the audio part of the system board could be bad even though the diags said all was okay.

is this on-board audio or card? name the names here if u can.

my $ sez if it passes diags, it's not the HW.

how is bios setup to handle PnP? - best guess off the top = change it ;)

i'd also consider a vanilla startup environment. kill all that isn't a must in startup to test.

this is just a normal expansion of the new system from dell when you first turn it on. new system right out of the box. sound is integrated and nothing special on this machine except her own printer. thats it. bios is what dell sets it up to be when they build the image.
