I just got a BSOD with the following message:

    Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    STOP: 0x00000000 (0x000000D1 0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Disable new software and hardware. Disable BIOS memory optioins such as caching or shadowing. Use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart computer. Press F8 to select Advanced Startup options and then select Safe Mode.

    physical memory dump starting
    physical memory dump complete

I checked in the Event Manager and got this:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Service Control Manager
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 7026
    Date: 10/27/2011
    Time: 12:31:15 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: RBI-250
    Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    SSI

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I have no new software and the only hardware I have installed is a Optical Drive which did not require any driver installation. In fact, I had to run a Windows FixIt to get the registry fixed so the Drive would work.

Luckily I was able to power up my computer. I am lost as to how to proceed, if indeed, I should proceed. Last week I also had a BSOD but as I was able to restart, I did not bother about it. Now I am worried.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks for your reply, Arie.

I tried to post yesterday to correct an error in my post, but I got a second BSOD with the same error message. The original error message should have been:

    STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I got both of the BSOD when online so I don't want to use my computer to go online. I will try as best as I can to follow your instructions.

I have spent last few days backing up all my files. Now, I have no internet connection although I have access to another computer that is connecting wirelessly. Is there a work-around to D/L and save the file to flashdrive so I can install on my computer?

Ann, you can install the tools from these instructions on your computer, then use a flash drive to copy the dump file to your machine & run the tool from there.

Sorry Arie, I can only go online with a laptop of a family member. I rather not install software on their machine. My computer has no Internet access. Can the BSOD cause me to lose internet connection?

I purchased a new network adapter thinking I could restore my connection this way, but I can't because even though the driver was installed and I can see the new adapter in Device Manager I get message that it is hidden or not installed. This is all beyond my limited knowledge.

I checked for the dump and find that it no longer there. My settings are set to create a minidump. This is very frustrating. TIA!

I think your best option is to find a local tech to have a look at the machine.

Arie, I expected to have to do precisely that. However, I went back to an Aug. Image I had (that predates my optical drive problem, the BSOD and the lack of Internet connection).

It appears to have worked (I just got finished installing updates) and I now have Internet connection. Have yet to test my apps to see how the computer is behaving.

Hopefully, I will not get another BSOD. BTW, can a BSOD cause loss of Internet?

    Thanks for your help.

Well, yes, IF it would be crashing on a component that is needed for your network.

UPDATE: I have not had any more BSODs. The restore seems to have fixed the problem, I hope!
