    [Inactive] Browser won't connect

Okay, I'll try my best to explain what happened and see if anyone can tell me what to do.
About a week ago I got a virus that wouldn't let me do ANYTHING on my laptop. It blocked everything reporting there was a "virus" and I needed to buy their software for 30 dollars a month. Doubt it! It wouldn't let me get on anything. I couldn't open files, control panel, nothing.
I left the computer alone for a few days, and when I came back to it my computer had gotten rid of the virus. The virus wasn't popping up every five seconds like it used to, and I figure everything was back to normal.
I tried getting on the internet and it told me it couldn't display the web page. Okie dokie. So I checked the connection. The connection was fine, the internet worked in other parts of the house, but my browser still wouldn't show the page.
There is something wrong with the browser, but I don't know how to fix it or take it off and use a new one, or anything else I might be able to do. Any help?
    Thanks -K
