Windows XP SP3, Media Center edition. Whilst trouble shooting my wireless MS Comfort Keyboard I plugged a basic Logitec keyboard into the PS2 socket. When I got my MS keyboard working again I removed the Logitec keyboard. Now, everytime I boot it is halted saying that there is no keyboard (although my MS keyboard is working fine). Although I can continue the boot by pressing F1 I would like to stop it doing this. Can anyone help please?

If you're sure that your MS Keyboard is working fine you could always disable halt on keyboard errors in the BIOS (see below for additional help).

I'd keep that PS/2 keyboard handy though.

Wildfire, I had already looked at the option of 'disable halt on keyboard errors in the BIOS' but decided against it lest it lost me a facility that I might need at a later time.
Any other ideas e.g. deleting a driver? In device manager I have 5 listed but I cannot identify which one relates to the 'missing keyboard'.
PS. I have entered my system details.

Did you unplug the PS2 board while the pc was turned on? If so, its possible you shorted out the mobo....

The error you're getting is a BIOS error before windows loads.... So deleteing stuff out of device manager probably won't help....

Steve, thank you. A solution is to leave the 'missing keyboard' plugged in to the PS2 socket but I would rather not have this keyboard stacked amongst the cables behind the pc.

Disable the error report in BIOS and your problem will be resolved. If you need the facility at a later date you can always re-enable it.

    Edit:
You may have done but we can't see them, I think you missed a step...

So what is the answer to this question?

If you shut the pc down and then remove the keyboard does that help?

Steve, I'm guessing (yeah I know) it's an older BIOS which isn't too comfortable with USB keyboards, Disabling the error in the BIOS won't do any harm. Although if Soloist provided system specs we can take guessing out of the equation.
