I suggested a check of the hard drive earlier in this thread :)
No need to use vmware as you are running 7 Ultimate in which you can use Windows XP mode - a free download from MS including a copy of XP Pro.
If the BSOD occurs only when running that task it is a pointer to the problem. Heavy CPU usage - would be worth checking out the CPU temps. I suggest Core Temp which you can leave running and monitor the load, max and min temps - screenshot.

From this quote it is still a little unclear as to what is happening when you get a BSOD, are you having to shut down manually irrespective of "Auto Restart" being checked. If it is freezing is there any message on the screen or maybe just a flashing cursor.

The idea of unchecking "Auto Restart" was to give you the chance to read the BSOD error message and report it here, which you have not done. We need to know what the error message/s say on the screen. If you are getting a Black Screen which freezes the PC and not Blue then please tell us as this is different.

You do not need much time to do this test, just load up the disc and leave it running, you will see the results when you return to the PC. The test can be left to run for as long as you wish.

This is from post 10. Have you followed this advise???

Have you run a test on the hard drive as PeteC suggested???

Have you installed the CPU temperature software PeteC suggested???

Other posts on this issue have gone around in circles , as you have seen. The only way to progress is for you to follow the advise we give and trying everything that is suggested and reporting back with the results. Please follow what has been suggested and run the memory and hard drive tests or this post will also go around in circles;).

Mark, sorry for appearing to taking you in circles. The reason why i did not run the test is the PC is being used for work and until i set up another PC to do the work i differed the tests. Meanwhile I was trying to fast fix and come back to the advices latter.

On the reboot issue, i always get a Blue BSOD and i had to manually press the power switch to reboot. There is no black screen or flushing cursor; to me it is a true BSOD; hence i was able to read / report the bsod error message reported in my earlier thread. Hope this clear up this issue.

OK, that makes the situation a lot clearer. As you may have already realised there is not likely to be a fast fix for this as running the tests, as advised, is going to be the only way to figure out what is going wrong.

    Mark just for quick reply:

When i use the same PC with a different hard-Dsk with the same firewall setting, spyware/malware/AV there was no BSOD so far.

This config do not have 2 suspects: vmware & vb.express.08.

Please be patient as i working out some of my other priorities in solving this specially i am dealing with a new OS. Thanks anyway, will certainly come back when i exhausted all the avenues and probably by then EXHAUSTED! :)

This is fairly convincing evidence that the original hard drive is corrupt or faulty. You can run the diagnostics test on this drive using another PC, then if it fails the test you will have resolved the problem.

    Hello,

It's a good idea if you could post the Dump files. C:\Windows\MiniDump Zip the files there and upload to Skydrive and post the link here. If that is giving you an error you could use this tool i made http://captaindebugger.wordpress.com/sf-diagnostic-tool-v4/ the instructions on how to use it is in the post. Make you right click and Run as administrator.

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Thanks Captain Jack :), will do in due course.
    Mark noted yr last response.

    PS
Capt Jack please get the minidump here
    http://www.easy-share.com/1913140727/Minidump.zip

Mark, tested the WD5000, quick test no problem, now doing extended test, half done no problem yet. I have a feeling it is not the harddisk either since it is brand new.

Well, if the test completes with no errors then one of these progs is obviously suspect vmware & vb.express.08. I would check to see if there are any updates available for these programs.

Capt Jack Sparrow may well shine some light when he examines your crash dumps. Meanwhile, the only other test to run will be the memtest and it may be worth trying the CPU temp sensor that PeteC suggested in post 21.

    Hello Mate,

You have multiple issues. First thing immediate you need to do is uninstall AVG and Zone Alarm Pro completely. Use the removal Tool and clean the left over files

    AVG: http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools
    Zone Alarm: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/cpes_clean.exe

You could install Microsoft Security Essentials

    Bugcheck:

    DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.

Thank you Cap for the effort; for my education please indulge me further with answers to 3 questions:
1 what makes you think that it is zone alarm, i don't see it in the extract u quoted. By the way in zone alarm forum, it is quoted that v9.2.076.xx has problem with win7.64bit while avg v9 will not be supported soon probably because of 64 bit issues??
2 do you think the new version of avg 2011 will fix this beside going for ms..
3 have you seen this event before in other pc with win7.64bit.ultimate.

    Cap's Off .. Salute!

    Hello FuzMic,

AVG is clearly a problem here, Driver Verifer on your computer has caught the problem. Not sure if AVG 2011 will fix it. I have personally seen 100s of cases where AVG and Zone Alarm casuing BSOD. I would Zone Alarm is a junk it corrupts the NETIO.sys drivers caused the System to crash. You better off with it. There are lot of other Firewall like Comodo that gives you good protection. IMO Windows Firewall with http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/order.html free edtion will give you good protection. As far as Antivirus concern Microsoft provide a good one MSE. For added protection you could install WinPatrol Free edition.

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

That's interesting, I suggested you got rid of AVG and all the other AV, spyware and firewall and installed MSE back in post 10. Turns out my hunch was very close to the problem.

Capt Jack Sparrow, is there a good guide on line which would help me to learn more about dump files, especially how to handle them so they can be read and posted.

Thanks for that Jack I'll have a good read of your site.

Re Adac's post (now removed) if you see any more jumping into the middle of a thread just click on the red triangle "Report Post" and just put in a message like "Interrupting thread" then admin will remove it.

    Hi Captain & Mark

The BSOD appeared again at the time of switching user - seems always when there is some major screen dimming. This happened in the same problem PC with the same now tested ok memory module, same harddisk but with AVG and zone alarm removed replaced by ms Security Essentials and Sphinx FireWall.

The minidump is at Easy Share for the gurus to have another dig at this problem.

    Thanks!
