After downloading, should I save the Ubuntu file or insert cd+r then choose "open with" to Tiny Burner?

there are 2 options in the Tiny Burner Tools window:

    1. Burn

    2. Burn ISO

    I have tried both options.

With "Burn" it gets to 83% every time. Then stops.

    Sometimes it says
"an error occuring in the application
    choices
    continue application
    restart application
    close application "

then my cd shows it has less than 695 mb available.

So I have to put in a new cd. But I cannot erase the cd and start over, so I must just ruining one cd after another.

in the bug report in the disasm window
    it has highlighted

    0040bb2f call -$964c ($4024e8) ;System.RaiseException

But among some cd-r's I made before I have found one labeled burned image.

This may be a successful burn.
So I assume I put this in the player and boot up and see if I get a choice to boot from this at startup.

Burn ISO is what you need to use.
I assume you are running Windows XP.
If have Windows 7, just rt click the iso and select "burn disk image ".

    1. put cd-r in player

    2. open Tiny Burner window (Tiny Burner put in D drive). Tools > Burn ISO

    3. set speed to slowest (I can probably do faster. The Tiny Burner window keeps wanting to reset it at maximum)

    4. point Tiny Burner to Ubuntu...iso file downloaded to desktop (C drive)

    5. Tiny Burner window says "Writing CD (00.00)...0%"

    nothing

6 transferred ubuntu iso file from c drive to d drive.

    7 tried burn again.

8 tiny burner gets to 4% and stops. error.

Something is either wrong with the program or your computer.

Try using ImgBurn to create a cd.

I may have to try that.

first I want to see if I already have a usable cd. I did a process a few months ago which required making 3 cd's

When I boot up I have the choice of normal windows boot or if I press f8 I can get a menu , that included using a command window to boot up. If my ubuntu cd works, which option should I choose to access windows from the boot screen?

There is no 3 cd set for a live Linux. You probably just downloaded some cd isos of additional software.

This does not make sense. If you have a working Ubuntu CD, you just boot from the CD, provided the BIOS is set to boot the CDROM drive first. There won't be any option to boot Windows.

If you use the BIOS boot menu, then to boot the CD you must select it, to boot the hard drive (where Windows is located) you select that.

Are you sure that you didn't need to put it on one DVD? What was the size of the iso file you downloaded?

If you are unsure, download the iso file on this page. It is 695 Mb and will fit on one Cd.

this info is probably in the Malware and viruses section as a part of scans I have done.

I can also do a Belarc scan.

Here are the instructions for downloading & burning a cd:

    1. Download Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download. Beneath the orange large "Start Download" button, there is a link Direct url for this Download. Click that.
You should now start downloading a file "Ubuntu-xxx-desktop-i386.iso ". Save this file.

    2. Download & install Imgburn.

    3. Now we have to write the ISO file to a cd. Insert a new CD in the cd writer. Run ImgBurn & click "Write image file to disc ". Click the folder sign on the right side of Source & navigate to the folder where you have saved the file. Click on the ISO file & click Open. In the bottom of the window there is a graphic with a cd & hard disk. Click that to start recording on the cd.

    4. After the cd is written, reboot, go into BIOS/CMOS setup & choose CD/DVD ROM as the first boot device and don't remove the cd. Exit after saving changes. Now the computer should [hopefully] boot from the cd into Ubuntu.
